Tuesday, November 18, 2008 - 9:00am
Minutes Status:
Approved

The Special Meeting was called to order at 9 am by Supervisor Wortham to discuss the recent bid received for a new fire apparatus, discuss the budget and address an ongoing trespassing problem at the Transfer Station. All board members were in attendance along with Chief Ron Schultz, Ryan Schultz, Marty Griffith, Ken Stoltman, and Jeff Feltman from the fire department.

Supervisor Wortham requested the fire department give an overview of the equipment currently at both Stations 1 and 2. Chief Schultz listed all the trucks and their capabilities along with other equipment currently in use. Chief Schultz advised the board that a pumper/tanker was at the top of list for equipment needed by the department, followed by a new rescue van and the replacement of the pickup and diesel grass rig.

A discussion took place regarding grant opportunities and the possibility of purchasing used equipment, along with financing options and the ISO rating. The township board requested the fire department forward the minutes from their fire department meetings to them in the future.

The board agreed to review all the information regarding the new truck and advise the fire department of their decision.

A discussion regarding the remaining 2008 budget took place. The board anticipated staying very close to the budget if no unexpected expenses were incurred.

Due to an ongoing problem at the Transfer Station, the board unanimously agreed to no longer allow individuals to loiter at the Transfer Station and remove items throughout the day effective January 1, 2009.

The meeting adjourned at 11:06 am.
