Board Meeting September 2006

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wortham at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were in attendance.

Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to accept the minutes of the August 14th, 2006 Board Meeting as read. Carried - unanimous

Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to accept the Treasurers report for August, 2006. Carried - unanimous

Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to pay all September bills presented for payment by the Clerk, check number 13650 through check number 13680, totaling $29,789.78. Carried - unanimous

The Board received a request to extinguish any interest in a road easement located on Nehl's Acres along Ossiwinnimakee Road. The Board discussed the issue and examined information obtained from the County recorder. The Board unanimously agreed the easement was not recorded as of 1986 and the Township has no use for the easement running through the Nehl‚s Acres plat. Legal Council for the Township, Gerry Brine, suggested the Board post notice for a special meeting of the Board to approve the resolution to extinguish any interest in the road easement and sign an Affidavit.

Motion by Brandt, seconded by Wortham, to schedule a special meeting of the town Board for the sole purpose of passing a resolution regarding the above mentioned request. 
Carried - unanimous

The Board opened a bid received from Anderson Brothers to replace a culvert on Wabigoniss Shores Road totaling $48,899.95. Brandt reported the permit for the culvert has been approved by the DNR.

Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to accept the bid from Anderson Brothers to replace the culvert at a cost of $48,899.95. Carried - unanimous

The Road and Bridge report was as follows:

  1. Rahm reported on the cleaning of the culvert on Long Farm Road last month. Supervisor Brandt commented on the great job done by the Township maintenance crew on this project.
  2. The 2nd pass of mowing in the township was 80% complete.
  3. Additional parking was made at the North side Fire Station and the property was seeded.
  4. There were no safety incidents.

Supervisor Brandt reported on the use of a road off of Forest Knolls Road, named Cakadikomeg. Brandt advised the residents that the road was dedicated to the public on May 3rd, 1984 and if the residents wish to have the road vacated, they would have to pursue the vacation process and petition the township formally.

The Fire Department report as follows:

  1. There were 4 fire runs the previous month.
  2. Schultz reported all fire fighters had their mask fit done.
  3. A house burn was scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th on County Rd
  4. There were no safety incidents.

Chief Schultz requested brush be cleaned out around Station 2 to provide better visibility when entering Highway 1.

Supervisor Plein reported a picnic table was being ordered to be placed at the rest stop at the North side Station.

The Transfer Station Report was as follows:

  1. Brandt reported the roll off project has been completed.
  2. The brush pile has been burned.
  3. The appliances and metal will be removed within the next month.
  4. The Tranfer Station is now open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 8 am to 5 pm.

Supervisor Brandt suggested the locks be changed at the Station to improve security.

Brandt gave an update on the status of the Kehring Cartway.

The Clerk advised the Board that the October Monthly Board Meeting had to be reschedule due to the Columbus Day Holiday.

Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to schedule the October meeting for Monday, October 16th, 2006 at 7 pm. Carried - unanimous

There being further business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm.
