The meeting was called to order by Chairman Taylor at 7:03P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were present.
Motion by Caughlan to approve he minutes of the August 14, 2000 Board meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Badger to accept the August, 2000 treasurers report as presented. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Caughlan to pay all September, 2000 bills presented for payment by the clerk. Carried - unanimous
George Hale, resident on Father Foley Dr., told the Board that traffic was again speeding on their road. He requested some rumble strips be put in the road to call attention to speed limit signs. The Clerk was asked to send a letter to the Crow Wing County Sheriffs Department informing him of this problem.
Norway Ridge Supper Club requested approval by the Board of an off-sale liquor license to be used during wine tasting suppers. These suppers occur regularly at the supper club.
Motion by Badger to approve an off-sale liquor license for Norway Ridge Supper Club. Carried - unanimous
The Road and Bridge report was as follows:
- The mower tractor is still being repaired.
- The City of Breezy Point and Ideal Township plan to upgrade Wild Acres Rd.
- The have been no safety incidents.
The Fire Department report was as follows:
- The department by-laws are being rewritten and updated and should be reviewed by the Township association attorney.
- There were 6 fire runs the previous month.
- Would like approval for 3 members to attend the State Chiefs Conference in October.
- The department plans to have their trucks serviced annually at Mills Motors instead of Houston Ford.
- The department plans to fill the current membership openings.
- There have been some jurisdictional problems with the new E-911 system.
- There have been no safety incidents.
Motion by Taylor to approve allowing 3 firefighters to attend the State Chief's Conference. Carried - unanimous
There was nothing to report concerning the park and recreation area.
The clerk reported that Jessie Hildebran is incarcerated and his employment with the Township has been terminated. Caughlan reported that he will try to get the scrap metal baled before snowfall.
Taylor reported that he received a letter from the MPCA that Camp Foley was enlarging its septic system.
The clerk reported on the upcoming MAT meeting in Little Falls on September 27, 2000.
Badger indicated he would try to attend.
Quotes were opened on crack sealing. They were received from Daffinson Asphalt,
$8,725.00 and Anderson Brothers, $8,000.00.
Motion by Taylor to have Badger check with municipalities that have used these services and if satisfactory have Anderson Brothers perform crack sealing this fall. Carried - unanimous.
Handicap access to the hall and the pavilion were discussed. The access to the hall should be corrected prior to elections and access to the pavilion should be corrected next spring.
Bev and Gerry Brine reported they wished to construct a new driveway that would cross the ROW on Winnamakee Shores Rd. They asked for Board approval for crossing the ROW.
Motion by Badger to allow the Brines to construct a new driveway across Winnamakee Shores Rd. ROW. Carried - unanimous
There being no further Township business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 8:35 P.M.
