Board Meeting October 2004

Monday, October 18, 2004 - 7:00pm
Minutes Status: 

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wortham at 7:00P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Supervisor Steffen was not in attendance.

Motion by Brandt to accept the minutes of the September 13th, 2004 Board Meeting as read. Carried – unanimous

Motion by Brandt to accept the Treasurers report for September 2004. Carried – unanimous

Motion by Brandt to pay all October bills presented for payment by the Clerk. Carried -

Kevin McCormick from Landecker & Associates approached the Board on behalf of Blue Lakes Land Company, with a request to rezone a 20 acre parcel from Agricultural to Rural Residential, consisting of three tracts. A brief discussion followed. The Board was in agreement to support the rezoning request.

Dale Orred advised the Board of several concerns regarding the finishing of road work along Father Foley. Supervisor Brandt advised Mr. Orred that the Township was aware of his concerns and the Maintenance Department was in the process of completing them.

The Road and Bridge Report was as follows :

  1. Athmann reported on mowing, shouldering and patching in the Township.
  2. A new sander was installed on the plow truck.
  3. 2004 road construction on Deer Trail, N. Kimble Lane and Father Foley was completed.
  4. There were no safety incidents.

The Clerk reported the Old Whiskey Road sign was missing once again.

The Fire Department Report was as follows:

  1. There were 2 fire runs the previous month.
  2. Chief Schultz requested the Clerk send a letter to Chubb Insurance Company regarding fire coverage for a specific residence.
  3. Schultz requested funds to purchase 3 new sets of turnout gear at a cost of approximately $1360 a set.
  4. There were no safety incidents.

Motion by Brandt to purchase 3 sets of replacement turnout gear at an approximate cost of $4100 total.  Carried - unanimous

Supervisor Brandt reported on the progress of the North-Side Fire Department Substation.

Supervisor Brandt agreed to look into get swings installed in the park for next spring.

The Transfer Station Report was as follows:

  1. Supervisor Brandt reported that hazardous waste was no longer being accepted at the Transfer Station until May 2005 .
  2. The Brush pile needs to be burned soon.
  3. New signage was recently installed to separate appliances accordingly.

The Clerk reported that Election Judges had been selected from the Auditor's qualified list for the upcoming Election on November 2nd, 2004.

Supervisor Brandt reported on a meeting he attended regarding the Crow Wing County Sewer District.

The Clerk requested Ron Schultz order new parts for the Town Hall drinking fountain that is no longer in working order.

The Clerk reported that the sign along Highway 16 is currently being handled by Crow Wing County Planning and Zoning and a court date is pending .

There being no further Township business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 8:00P.M.
