The Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Brandt at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were in attendance.
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Plein to accept the minutes of the October 10th, 2011 Board Meeting as presented. Carried – unanimous
Motion by Wortham seconded by Plein to accept the Treasurers report for October 10th, 2011, check #17380 through check #17425, totaling $70,661.27 Carried – unanimous
Motion by Plein, seconded by Wortham to pay all bills presented for payment by the Clerk, check #17426 through check #17454, totaling $44,491.87. Carried – unanimous
Mike Pfister from Secluded Land Company presented a plat for the Ossawinnamakee Lakeshores plat. Supervisor Brandt walked the area and attended the county DRT meeting and advised that the county is considering the preliminary plat of 9 lots on Ossie and 1 lot on Strawberry. The board agreed to recommend approval and suggested larger and fewer lots would be better.
The Road and Bridge report was as follows:
- Supervisor Brandt reported the crack sealing has been completed for 2011 with a few minor issues in need of repair.
- The maintenance department has been cleaning and filling potholes and getting the equipment ready for the winter weather.
- Brandt reported new 30 MPH signs will be installed on Wildemere Road by Ideal and Jenkins.
- Brandt reported the “No Parking” signs have been installed on Wabigoniss Shores.
- The crack sealing is completed.
- The road mileage report from Crow Wing County indicated that Ideal was responsible for 73 roads, totaling 49 miles.
- The department met with residents on Northview Harbor who were interested in the township not mowing the ditch along the road. The board agreed to continue the current mowing procedure along Northview Harbor.
- The Fire Department cement pad will need to be fixed in the spring as it is too late in the season.
- There were no safety incidents.
The Fire Department report was as follows:
- There were 5 emergency runs the previous month.
- Last months drill was a live burn using a flash over trailer.
- Clasen requested the board approve the hiring of Tina Chisholm and Troy Cable to the department.
- Truck #9518 is in the process of being returned to the DNR in Moose Lake.
- Clasen and Stoltman attended the Chiefs convention in St. Cloud.
- The IFD Christmas party is on December 10th at Billy’s in Breezy.
- IFD Relief Association is donating $5,000 to the township to help with the contributions to the Relief Association.
- There were no safety incidents.
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Plein, to add the two additional fire fighters to the department. Carried – unanimous.
The Park and Recreation report was as follows:
- Supervisor Plein reported the sprinkler system has been shut down for the season.
The Transfer Station report was as follows:
- Supervisor Plein reported the Transfer Station is only open on Saturdays for the winter.
- The tires are scheduled for pick up the week of November 28th and the metal pile is scheduled for removal this month.
- The board discussed the recent fire at the transfer station.
- The transfer station property (71 acres) has now been posted as belonging to Ideal Township and no hunting.
- There were no safety incidents.
Brandt reported on the recent DRT meeting for Crow Wing County. Tip Top Resort is requesting to extend the preliminary plat for another three years with the option to divide it into residential after the three years. Steve Ogden requested 3 variances for his property on Fox Hunter Road which includes two lots and the board reviewed the land use map and felt it was not consistent with our land use plan. The board agreed to do further research and offer a recommendation to the county.
Brandt reported additional firewood has been split for Big Island.
The board discussed purchasing land across from the Town Hall on Hwy 16. The board decided not to pursue additional land purchases at this time.
