The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wortham at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were in attendance.
Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to accept the minutes of the October 13th, 2008 Board Meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to accept the Treasurers report for October, 2008, check #15173 through #15228, totaling $199,561.25. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Plein, seconded by Brandt to pay all bills presented for payment by the Clerk, check #15229 through check #15276, totaling $47,689.92, with the exception of check #15266 to People‚s Security that may have already been paid by KC Companies. Carried - unanimous
There was nothing new for open forum.
The Road and Bridge report was as follows:
- Supervisor Brandt reported the plow trucks are ready for the season as is the salt/sand mix for the roads.
- The maintenance building is complete and Brandt would be sending a letter of satisfaction to KC Companies.
- Brandt notified Boyds about a damaged area on Silver Peak Road which was a hazard to the snow plow and requested it be repaired immediately.
- Brandt was working on getting a license or easement from the property owners at the end of Butternut Point Road for a turn-a-round.
- Brandt recently reported the township road mileage to the county.
- Brandt presented a letter recently received from the Crow Wing County Sheriffs Department regarding a $1,000 contribution to purchase a speed trailer.
- Supervisor Wortham reported on a gopher problem under Strawberry Road.
- There were no safety incidents.
The Fire Department report was as follows:
- There were 2 emergency runs the previous month.
- Chief Ron Schultz requested the board approve several personnel changes to the fire department.
- A meeting between the board and the fire department was scheduled for Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 at 9am to discuss the recently received fire truck bid.
- There were no safety incidents.
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Brandt to accept the resignation of Gene Peterson, a six month leave of absence for Dave Galligan and the addition of two new members to the fire department, Tim Hidde and Rick Anderson. Carried - unanimous
There was nothing new to report for Park and Recreation.
The Transfer Station Report was as follows:
- Supervisor Plein reported new signs will be placed on the gate and the building stating the hours of operation, the dates hazardous waste can be accepted and no loitering.
- Supervisor Brandt is working with the county to locate a trespasser at the Transfer Station.
Supervisor Brandt gave an update on the Lanes addition road status.
Supervisor Plein reported the town hall roof had been patched at a minimal cost but would need to have more extensive repairs done in the near future.
Brandt reported on the Anderson rezoning request. The board unanimously chose not to support the rezoning from Rural Residential #5 to Shoreland Residential #1.
The clerk announced 775 voters turned out for the general election and things went smoothly and also reminded the board of the upcoming Crow Wing County Township Association meeting in Mission on Monday, November 17th
at 7 pm.
