The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wortham at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All Board Members were in attendance.
Motion by Steffen to accept the minutes of the April 12th, 2004 Board meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Brandt to accept the Treasurers report for April 2004. Carried unanimous
Motion by Brandt to pay all May bills presented for payment by the clerk. Carried - unanimous
Bids for summer 2004 road construction were opened. Anderson Brothers submitted a bid of approximately $129,000. Motion by Wortham to accept the bid of $129,000 submitted by Anderson Brothers. Carried - unanimous
Kevin McCormick from Landecker and Associates presented the Board with a revised rezoning request on behalf of David Fleck. Several Ideal residents were in attendance expressing concerns regarding the subdivision. Motion by Brandt to advise Crow Wing County P & Z that the Ideal Township Board of Supervisors had no objections to the rezoning along the Ossawinamakee side of the property, however, no recommendation was to be offered by the township on the balance of the land on Strawberry Lake. Carried - unanimous
DNR Forestry Supervisor, Keith Simar, advised the Board of a driveway access in the township that the DNR planned to close, as there was no easement agreement in place. A discussion regarding alternative access to the property followed. Simar agreed to send a letter to the individual explaining the situation and alternatives.
The Road and Bridge Report was as follows:
- Denny Rahm reported that it took several weeks to clear downed trees in the Township after the recent storms.
- Routine maintenance was conducted on the Road & Bridge equipment this month.
- There were no safety incidents.
The fate of the Township grader was discussed. Motion by Wortham to advertise for bids on the grader in the Echo. Carried - unanimous
The Fire Department report was as follows:
- There was one fire call the previous month.
- Three candidates from the north-side were being considered as additions to the Fire Department.
- There were no safety incidents.
Supervisor Brandt reported on negotiation with the owner of 2.5 acres of desirable land for the North-side substation. Supervisor Steffen presented material estimates for the North-side substation.
The Park and Recreation Report was as follows:
- Supervisor Brandt reported on a donation presented to the Township from the Pat Flynn Memorial to be used for new park equipment, possibly swings.
The Transfer Station Report was as follows:
- Supervisor Brandt reported on the recent land survey done by Landecker & Associates at the Transfer Station.
The Board discussed the leaf pile at the Transfer Station. The Board agreed to limit leaf dumping to residential use only. The Clerk was requested to contact the commercial businesses using the Transfer Station for leaf disposal about the limitations.
The Qualification Meeting was scheduled for Monday, May 17th, 2004 at 9:00am at the Town Hall.
The Clerk presented a renewal contract for approval by the Board from Charter Communications.
Supervisor Steffen reported on the meeting last month regarding road improvements on Father Foley Road. Steffen requested the clerk obtain statutes regarding speed limits from the Minnesota Association of Townships.
There being no further Township business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 8 :54 P.M.
