The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wortham at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were in attendance.
Motion by Brandt to accept the minutes of the January 26th Preliminary Budget Meeting, the minutes of the February 13th Board Meeting and the minutes of the March 9th Budget and Audit meeting as presented. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Brandt to accept the Treasurers report for February 2006. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Plein to pay all March bills presented for payment by the Clerk. Carried - unanimous.
Attorney Gerry Brine approached the Board regarding several legal issues. Brine presented a request on behalf of Patty Uppgaard to rezone a parcel of property in Ideal Township. A discussion regarding the proposed division and zoning of surrounding property took place. Motion by Brandt to advise Crow Wing County Planning and Zoning that the Board had no objections to the rezoning request. Carried - unanimous
Brine presented the Board with two road vacation applications for review. The clerk and Board Chairman signed the Acceptance of Service on the Wilske and Anderson Applications.
The Road and Bridge Report was as follows:
- Rahm reported on plowing and salting in the Township.
- Remote door openers were installed on the garage doors.
- There were no safety incidents.
Supervisor Brandt reported on the progress of ordering the new plow truck. Including the trade-in, Brandt reported the truck should come in under $100,000.
Brandt advised the Board that the guard-rail along Clear Creek on Forest Knolls Road would have to be installed in the spring due to the fact that much of the digging had to hand done because of the large amount of utilities running through that area.
Brandt also reported on a joint effort with the county to clear the culvert on Long Farm Road of brush and silt which has been an ongoing problem.
The Fire Department Report was as follows:
- There were 2 fire runs the previous month.
- Chief Schultz reported the Ideal Sno-pros donated $3,000 to purchase a Rescue Alive sled. The Crosslake-Ideal Lions donated $5,000 and the Northern Sertoma Club donated $1,000 to purchase a four wheeler and rescue sled.
- The inspection was done at Station 2 and the report should be complete within the next couple weeks regarding the ISO rating.
- The department was applying for a grant to purchase a new air compressor and SCBA.
- There were no safety incidents.
Gerry Brine updated the Board on the progress of the Burn Agreement document.
Supervisor Plein gave a report on the Scenic By-way kiosk project.
Motion by Brandt to sponsor the kiosk planned for placement and the Ideal North-side substation. Carried - unanimous.
There was nothing new to report at the Transfer Station.
Plein reported on the new Annual Ideal Township newsletter.
There being no further Township business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 7:49 pm.
