Board Meeting June 2004

Minutes Status: 

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wortham at 7:00P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Supervisor Brandt was not in attendance.

Supervisor Wortham opened the Public Hearing regarding the Ideal Township Comprehensive Plan.  Wortham gave an overview of the planning process. Wortham opened the floor to any comments or questions regarding the plan. Several residents had questions for the Committee members as to how the data and opinions were collected. Wortham closed the Hearing at 7:20P.M.

Motion by Steffen to accept the minutes of the May 1Oth, 2004 Board Meeting as read. Carried - unanimous

Motion by Steffen to accept the Treasurers report for May 2004. Carried – unanimous

Motion by Steffen to pay all June bills presented for payment by the Clerk. Carried – unanimous

Kevin McCormick from Landecker and Associates presented the Board with a rezoning request
on behalf of Gary and Patricia Tweed. A short discussion regarding the rezoning followed. Motion by Steffen to advise Crow Wing County P & Z that the Ideal Township Board of Supervisors had no objections to the rezoning of the Tweed property. Carried- unanimous

An Ideal resident requested the Clerk contact Crow Wing County regarding an advertising sign along Highway 16. The Clerk agreed to contact the County to see if a permit had been granted.

The Road and Bridge Report was as follows:

  1. Denny Rahm reported road patching and seal coating had been done on several roads in the Township.
  2. Mowing the Township Right-of-Way would begin next week.
  3. The old Fire Numbers were beginning to be removed as they are now obsolete.
  4. There were no safety incidents.

The Fire Department Report was as follows:

  1. Chief Schultz reported that #9511 was having required testing done this month.
  2. There were 2 fire runs the previous month.
  3. A Purchase Agreement had been signed to purchase 2.5 acres for the North-Side Fire Station.
  4. There were no safety incidents.

There was nothing new to report for Park and Recreation.

The Transfer Station Report was as follows:

Supervisor Brandt reported that Crow Wing County picked up all the Hazardous Waste last week from the Transfer Station.

Bids to purchase the Township grader were opened. A bid of $1251 from Ted Ebnet and a bid of $1650 from Steve Shoelander were received. Motion by Steffen to accept the bid of $1650 from Steve Shoelander. Carried - unanimous

On a motion by Board Member Steffen, seconded by Board Member Wortham, the Ideal Township Comprehensive Plan is hereby adopted by the Board of Supervisors of ldeal Township, Crow Wing County, MN on the 14th day of June, Two Thousand and Four.

Supervisor Steffen reported on wind damage done to the Town Hall and Fire Station roof during a recent storm. Steffen presented information regarding repairs and an estimate from the insurance adjuster.

There being no further Township business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 8:12P.M.
