The meeting was called to order at 7:00P.M. by Chairman Taylor with the Pledge of Allegiance. Supervisors Taylor and Caughlan and treasurer Brine were present.
Motion by Caughlan to approve the minutes of the May 8, 2000, meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Caughlan to accept the treasurers report for May, 2000, as presented. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Caughlan to pay all June, 2000, bills presented for payment by the clerk. Carried - unanimous
Supervisor Badger arrived at 7:15P.M.
Quotes were reviewed for upgrading the maintenance and fire department heating system. They were from Thelen Heating and Arctic Air. There were some differences in equipment in the quotes. The clerk was asked to clarify the differences and to have quotes on similar equipment for the July 10, 2000, meeting.
The road and bridge report was as follows:
- There have no safety incidents.
- August Helfricht reported an erosion problem near Tip Top Resort .
- Questions arose on the progress of roadside mowing.
The fire department report was as follows:
- There were 2 fire runs the past month, one by the Pine River department.
- 5 firefighters attended training at the Crosby school.
- Would like to amend the fire department mission statement for Board review.
- There have been no safety incidents.
- Would like to build an 8' X 16' office addition to store records and for a computer .
Motion by Taylor to allow the firemen to build an 8' by 16' addition to their office at a cost o fup to $3,500. Carried - unanimous
The subject of the Winnamakee Shores Rd. turn around was again discussed . The clerk was asked to retain an attorney and proceed with condemnation.
Badger reported that he had not met recently with the owners of the property adjacent to the park. The Town is attempting to purchase some additional property for future expansion. The clerk was asked to try to set up a meeting with the owners and Badger before the next regular meeting.
Mike Dindorff, MPCA, reported he felt that the transfer station was being used during hours when not in operation. In a letter, he also requested that the Township attempt to remedy an erosion problem on the east edge of the old landfill.
Taylor reported on the Big Island meeting. Things seem to be working well with the exception of some graduation parties where considerable wood was burned and refuse left on the beach.
The clerk reported that the drinking water at the town hall had been tested by the Health Department and was found to be acceptable. He also reported a letter had been received from Jenkins Township stating their lodging tax ordinance had not been repealed.
There being no further Township business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 8:20 P.M.
