Board Meeting July 2015

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Peterson at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Supervisors Peterson and Bilek were in attendance. The Clerk and 2 other persons were also present.

Motion by Bilek, seconded by Peterson to accept the minutes of the June 8th Board Meeting as amended. Carried unanimous.

Dale Orred presented a report on the status of the Minnesota 100 organization and its activities over the last year. The organization provides emergency funding to families of fire fighters and police officers in Minnesota.

Dave Johnson asked about having speed monitor signs put up on Ossawinimakee Road.

No Road and Bridge report was presented.

No Fire Department report was presented. Supervisor Peterson noted that he will attend the meeting tomorrow regarding the shared services study report.

Supervisor Bilek presented the Transfer Station/Recycling Center report as follows:

  1. There continues to be increased activity, volume, and receipts at the station.
  2. Recommends hiring a part-time assistant attendant. Bilek has interviewed a person that was referred by the maintenance crew. This person can provide assistance for busy days and back up for the attendant at the transfer station. He has a commercial driving license and has truck driving experience so can also provide backup for the road maintenance crew. Motion by Bilek, second by Peterson to hire the individual to part-time position at $10/hour subject to passing a physical. Carried unanimous.
  3. The clerk reported on a resident who was concerned about hunting on the transfer station property and has asked the township to post the parcels so that the trespassing can be enforced.

Supervisor Peterson presented the Park and Recreation report as follows:

  1. He has completed a review of the facility.
  2. The playground step still needs to be recoated.
  3. He will ask the maintenance crew to work on removing weeds inside the playground area. The attempt to clear them with a tiller appears to have not worked. Should look at spraying the weeds.
  4. Asked the clerk to send a letter to Lakeside Lawn & Landscape asking for replacement of two dead bushes on north side of town hall before the warranty expires.

Motion by Bilek, second by Peterson to accept the treasurer’s report for June as presented. Report includes receipts #4891 through #4919 totaling $422,812.88 and disbursements #PERA060815 through #19953 for total of $104,000.35 including a $50,000 operating funds transfer. Carried unanimous.

Motion by Bilek, second by Peterson to approve the July claims as presented; claims #41993 through #42034 totaling $362,044.93. Carried unanimous.

The Clerk presented a series of correspondence. No Board action was taken.

Supervisor Peterson reported on Planning & Zoning issues:

  1. Nine building permits had been issued in Ideal in the last month.

There being no further business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
