The meeting was called to order by Chairman Taylor at 7:01P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were present.
Motion by Badger to approve the minutes of the June 11, 2001, meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Wortham to approve the minutes of the Special Meeting with the F. D. truck committee June 22, 2001, with the following change: '"about $100,00.00" changed to "more than $100,000.00". Carried- unanimous
Motion by Wortham to accept the June, 2001, treasurer's report as presented. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Badger to pay all July bills presented for payment by the clerk. Carried - unanimous
Dave Lang, property owner on Clamshell Lake, asked the Board to recommend no zoning changes on lakeshore property. The Board requested that the clerk send a letter to Crow Wing Planning indicating its desire to retain the rural character off ldeal Township and to exercise extreme care in increasing the density on lakeshore property.
Mike Dorso asked that the Board recommend of a variance application for a building on his property. No action taken.
Lynn Scharenbroich gave an update on the plans for the centennial celebration, August, 2002. She asked that the entertainment committee be allowed to make commitments for entertainment contracts.
Motion by Badger to allow the centennial entertainment committee to enter into contracts as long as Gerry Brine reviews the contracts prior to signing. Carried - unanimous
Bob Olufs thanked the fire department for clearing the culvert on his road of debris.
The road and bridge report was as follows:
- Anderson Brothers started paving this date and should be done by Wednesday.
- The siding being installed on the building should be completed soon.
- There have been no safety incidents.
The fire department report was as follows:
- There were 3 fire runs the previous month.
- The new "fire department" letters will cost about $350.00.
- The fire department software from Crow Wing County was discussed. More information is needed.
- There were no safety incidents the previous month.
Motion by Badger to purchase new letters for the fire department sign at a cost of about
$350.00. Carried - unanimous
A problem of the Learn and Play day care center's use of the park and hall was discussed. The center has been using the park on a regular basis without prior reservations and have entered restricted areas of the fire department and maintenance department. An incident of a child answering the telephone in the kitchen area was also cited. The Board determined that the park facilities should no longer be available to Learn and Play specifically. Other commercial entities may continue use by reservation only.
Badger will check on the installation of exhaust fans in the gym area bathrooms. He will also see about getting new power to the park pavilion.
Wortham reported that he had discussed the new building to be constructed at the transfer station with Doug Morris. Our building will the first of its kind with an office and storage area.
The clerk was asked to advertise the Clerk/Treasurer position in the Echo. The Board hopes to fill the position at the September Board meeting.
There being no further Township business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:47P.M.
