Board Meeting January 2009

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wortham at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were in attendance.

Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to accept the minutes of the December 8th, 2008 Board Meeting and December 10th and 11th Special Meetings as read. Carried - unanimous

Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to accept the Treasurers report for December, 2008, check #15305 through #15399, totaling $82,283.61. Carried - unanimous

Motion by Plein, seconded by Brandt to pay all bills presented for payment by the Clerk, check #15400 through check #15428, totaling $13,698.46 with the exception of check number 15417 to Krause Lock. Carried - unanimous

There was nothing new for open forum.

The Road and Bridge report was as follows:

  1. Supervisor Brandt reported on the busy snow plowing season so far.
  2. Brandt stated he has been in contact with the contractor who built the maintenance building regarding the passage doors freezing up and how they can fix the problem.
  3. There was a county snowplow involved in an accident in Ideal Township on Highway 16.
  4. There were no safety incidents.

Brandt reported wood hauling to Big Island would begin in February.

The board discussed different options for a projection screen for the hall. The board agreed a motorized screen was preferred. WAPOA recently donated $100 towards the screen and the board agreed the township would cover the approximate additional $200 needed.

The Fire Department report was as follows:

  1. There were 2 emergency runs the previous month.
  2. There were no safety incidents.

There was nothing new to report for Park and Recreation.

The Transfer Station Report was as follows:

  1. Supervisor Plein is printing the new disposal guide for the customers of the transfer station.

A discussion regarding the possible elimination of the County wide dog ordinance took place. The board unanimously agreed to send a letter to the county expressing our support for the current ordinance and request the current enforcement stay in place.

There being no further business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.
