The Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Brandt at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were in attendance.
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Plein to accept the minutes of the November 14th, 2011 Board Meeting as presented. Carried – unanimous
Motion by Plein seconded by Wortham to accept the Treasurers report for November 14th, 2011, check #17426 through check #17474, totaling $64,759.54 Carried – unanimous
Motion by Plein, seconded by Wortham to pay all bills presented for payment by the Clerk, check #17475 through check #17547, totaling $50,309.25. Carried – unanimous
Dave Badger presented the township with a donation of $1,000 from the Sons of the American Legion to purchase a Merry-Go-Round for the park.
Larry Schultz presented the board with a preliminary plat for Tip Top Resort for review. The request was due before the Board of Adjustment this week. The board unanimously approved the request and would send a letter to the county stating the board’s position.
The Road and Bridge report was as follows:
- The maintenance department has been cleaning the shop and maintenance building.
- Brandt reported the Anderson Brothers road work on Wild Acres was bid at $19,469.00 and came in at $18,270.00 after completion.
- Brandt reported a meeting was scheduled for December 15th regarding County Road 11 at Eagle View school and a final open house in February.
- There were no safety incidents.
The Fire Department report was as follows:
- There were 6 emergency runs the previous month.
- Last months drill was the fire fighter challenge.
- Clasen reported the two new fire fighters, Tina Chisholm and Troy Cable, have started their FFI training courses.
- Truck #9518 was returned to the DNR in Moose Lake.
- Clasen and Stoltman attended the Chiefs convention in St. Cloud.
- The IFD Christmas party was a success.
- An extra drill was scheduled on Ice rescue and house burn on Bass Lake this month.
- The department is currently reviewing the bi-laws for any necessary changes as the last update was in 2006.
- The results of the department election were reported.

Tom Johnson reported the payment required for the Fire Department Relief Association is $35,916.00.
The Park and Recreation report was as follows:
- Supervisor Plein reported on the various choices for the new Merry-Go-Round at the park. The Board agreed to make a selection for the spring.
The Transfer Station report was as follows:
- Supervisor Plein reported on the recent tire and metal pile pick up.
- Plein advised that the ashes at the transfer station have to be buried and doused with water by the Fire department.
- There were no safety incidents.
Brandt reported WALA requested the 5% administrative fee that the township receives for the lodging tax be reduced to 2.5%. The board discussed the current lodging account process handled by the township and how to streamline the process and the possibility of the lodging account being handled by an outside source.
The board discussed appointing a deputy clerk, which would be the responsibility of the township clerk.
Supervisor Brandt presented the Town Hall rental policy for review and the land use map from the county. The board agreed to submit a new map to the county with any changes. Brandt also advised the transfer station property was zoned as an SUD and the township requested the county put the property in Ideal Townships name and were awaiting a decision by the county.
Brandt reported Big Island volunteers have split 30 cords of wood and it is ready for delivery to the islands.
The board reviewed planning and zoning issues concerning the Moodie property on Strawberry and agreed to recommend larger lots to the county. The Lodico variance request on Hwy 39 needed to have an on-site inspection before making a recommendation.
Supervisor Brandt recently attended the Minnesota Assoc. of Townships annual conference.
