Board Meeting December 2004

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wortham at 7:00P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance.  All Board members were in attendance.

Chairman Wortham introduced John Plein to the residents in attendance as the interim Supervisor replacing Dave Steffen for the remainder of his term which expires in March 2005.

Motion by Brandt to accept the minutes of the November 8th, 2004 Board Meeting as read. Carried - unanimous

Motion by Brandt to accept the Treasurers report for November 2004.  Carried - unanimous

Motion by Brandt to pay all December bills presented for payment by the Clerk.  Carried - unanimous

Members from WALA approached the Board regarding a letter from the Township supporting the resort community to be sent to Crow Wing County Planning & Zoning.  The Board agreed to send a letter to the County reiterating the Ideal Comprehensive plans support of the tourism industry in the area.

Jerry Hauge approached the Board regarding a rezoning request from Agricultural to Residential. A brief discussion followed.

The Road and Bridge Report was as follows:

  1. Rahm reported on plowing in the Township and removal of several trees damaged by the recent winds.
  2. There were no safety incidents.

Supervisor Wortham reported on the road inspection of the Idyllwood Development.  Minor changes were needed to be in compliance with the Township road specifications and final inspection was necessary after the changes were made to accept the roads.

The Fire Department Report was as follows:

  1. There were 3 fire runs the previous month.
  2. Schultz reported the results of the Fire Department officers election.
  3. There were no safety incidents.

A discussion regarding adding additional Fire Fighters followed. The Board agreed to meet with Schultz later in the week to discuss the number of additional Fire Fighters to train.

A donation of $3000 was received from the Crosslake/Ideal Lions club to help pay for a pump for the new grass rig.

Brandt reported the lot for the North-side substation had been cleared, the markers are placed for the proposed building and the driveway is in.

There was nothing new to report for Park and Recreation or the Transfer Station.

Brandt reported on a meeting for the Sanitary Sewer District he recently attended in Crosslake.

A discussion regarding compensation and benefits for Ideal Township employees took place. An increase of 50 cents per hour for Maintenance workers Denny Rahm and Ken Athmann, an increase of 60 cents for the clerk, Deana St. Pierre and a 30 cent increase for Doug Kreft, Transfer Station Operator, was suggested by the Board.

Motion by Wortham to increase Maintenance workers Rahm and Athmann by 50 cents per hour, Clerk St. Pierre by 60 cents per hour and Transfer Station Operator, Kreft by 30 cents per hour
effective January 1st, 2005. Carried- unanimous

There being no further Township business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 8:17 P.M.
