The Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Brandt at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were in attendance.
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Plein to accept the Treasurers report for March, 2011, check #17002 through check #17056, totaling $38,336.47 Carried - unanimous.
Motion by Plein, seconded by Wortham to pay all bills presented for payment by the Clerk, check #17057 through check #17094, totaling $34,434.84 Carried - unanimous.
Cindy Hidde approached the board regarding a variance request for the Costellos regarding a 3 season porch. The board approved the variance and agreed to send their recommendation to the county.
Supervisor Marty Griffith from Timothy Township, donated $3,100 on behalf of Timothy Township to the Ideal Fire Department to purchase an AED for the Station 2 Fire Station.
The Road and Bridge report was as follows:
- Supervisor Brandt reported the maintenance department was beginning to broom the roads and cleaning up downed trees in the road right of way.
- Brandt reported the township signed a coop agreement with MN DOT to purchase salt/sand mixture.
- Brandt reported Boyd's Lodge was granted a permit from the county to construct a check-in facility.
- There were no safety incidents.
The Fire Department report was as follows:
- There were 3 emergency runs the previous month.
- Last month's drill was on extrication of light plane crashes.
- The wiring was completed at Station 1 combining both bays and installing a gas timer.
- The Cuyuna Range Chiefs Association is participating in the second round of funding for the 800 megahertz radio project.
- The 2000 GMC 3500 Quad Cab pickup is close to being in service.
- Fire fighter Scott Peterson submitted his letter of resignation.
- Officers met with the Pequot Lakes Fire Department last month to discuss mutual aid concerns when they have calls out west of Pequot, area fire departments role with the county sheriff's department in case of a shooter in the school district and scene management, photographs, radio usage, and RIT responsibility.
- Next month is the department's annual hose testing.
- There was one safety incident, a fire fighter pulled muscles in his knee.
There was nothing new to report for Park and Recreation.
The transfer station is now open on Wednesday and Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm.
Supervisor Brandt and Plein attended the township spring training course.
The board agreed to approve the current liquor licenses in the township.
The clerk reported the annual evaluation meeting with the county was scheduled for May 2nd at 10am and the Qualification would be May 2nd at 9am.
Supervisr Brandt reported on grant possibilities with CWC Soil & Water to use at Big Trout Lake.
Motion by Plein, seconded by Brandt to continue to donate $1,000 to PBSBA. Carried - unanimous
The process of collecting the 1% lodging tax for WALA was discussed.
