Board Meeting December 2001

The meeting was called to order at 7:00P.M. by chairman Taylor with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were present.

Motion by Caughlan to approve the minutes of the November 6, 2000 meeting as read by the Clerk.  Carried - unanimous

Motion by Badger to accept the November, 2000 treasurers report as presented. Carried - unanimous

Motion by Caughlan to pay all December bills presented for payment by the clerk. Carried - unanimous

The Xerox Maintenance Contract on the Fire Department copier was discussed.  The cost of the contract is about $200.00 annually.  The fire chief and the Board decided not to renew the contract for 2001.

Keith Kersten, Wabigoniss Shores Rd, discussed the actions being taken by area residents to reopen flowage beneath the road through an existing culvert. He asked only support from the Township. The Township pledged support other than financial whenever possible.

The road and bridge report was as follows:

  1. The trucks have been DOT inspected and required some repair.
  2. Wants to know if the tractor is budgeted for 2001.  If so, Delivery should be in June for summer mowing.
  3. Will check on new/different cell phone service.
  4. There have been no safety incidents.

The fire department repair was as follows:

  1. Rob Birkeland, Secretary, is the only change in the F D officer slate.
  2. The department plans to add a new member in January, 2001.
  3. Would like to get internet service for the department computer.
  4. Need to order 4 new masks at approximately $275.00 each.
  5. There were 4 fire runs the previous month.
  6. The department recommends making a charge for broken gas lines if Gopher One was not called. The person responsible for the call must pay the charge.
  7. There were no safety incidents.

Motion by Badger to approve the purchase of 4 SCBA for about $1100.00. Carried­ - unanimous

Motion by Badger to approve the department's internet service at the charge of about $11.00 per month. Carried - unanimous

The Clerk reported that Bainbridge had offered to sell his interest in the ROW to be used for a tum around at the end of Winnamakee Shores Road. The board had offered him $1,500.00 previously.

Motion by Badger to purchase the interest owned by Bainbridge of the Winnamakee Shores tum around ROW for $2,500.00. Carried - unanimous

Caughlan reported that the scrap metal at the transfer station had been baled and removed.

The equipment rotation schedule will be OK after the purchase of the next fire truck. This determination was made after discussing the equipment reserve and the cost of equipment replacement.

The upcoming public hearing on the David Moe building project on county Rd.16 was mentioned in the event anyone wished to attend.

There being no further Township business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:40 P.M.
