The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Taylor with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were present.
Motion by Badger to approve the minutes of the February 12, 2001 meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Badger to approve the minutes of the February 22, 2001 meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Wortham to accept the minutes of the March 22, 2001 meeting with the following corrections:
- Badger is fire department liaison, Taylor is assistant liaison.
- Badger is in charge of park and recreation, Taylor is assistant,
Carried - unanimous
Motion by Badger to accept the treasurers report for February, 2001 as presented. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Taylor to accept the treasurers report for the month of March, 2001 as presented. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Badger to pay all March, 2001 bills presented for payment by the clerk. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Wortham to pay all April, 2001 bills presented for payment by the clerk. Carried - unanimous
The road and bridge report was as follows:
- Meetings have been held with Anderson Bros. And Tri-City Paving. Specs are being being prepared.
- Trees are being cleared on roads to be upgraded. Trees along South Point Road are to close to the road and will have to be removed.
- Need a permit to improve the road over the causeway on South Point Road.
- There have been no safety incidents.
The fire department report was as follows:
- The F D Relief Assoc . has moved it's account to US Bank Piper from Dain Rauscher.
- Need a contract signed with the DNR.
- Would like to purchase software for Ideal Township mapping, approx . $1200.00.
- The fire department purchased some high level rescue gear for $500.00 and would like to be reimbursed by the Town .
- Larry Knutson has resigned from the department effective June 1, 2001.
- There were 3 fire runs the previous month.
- There have been no safety incidents,
The board requested more information on the mapping software.
Motion by Badger to pay for the high level rescue gear from non-budget funds available to the department and provide $200.00 for training with the Cuyuna Range Association. Carried - unanimous
The web page was discussed. The board decided to go ahead based on their motion the previous month.
Wortham reported that a meeting with applicants to work at the transfer station as an assistant will be held on April 13, 2001.
Brine reported that she learned at the Township Association short course that the value of the benefits should be included whenever salaries are changed,
Wortham suggested that the park and recreation equipment should be inspected annually for defects.
Motion by Wortham to increase the monthly salary to $115.00 per month and increase the mileage to the federal level per a motion made and passed at the 2001 annual meeting. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Taylor to continue holding the regular monthly Board meetings on the second Monday of each month. Carried - unanimous
The clerk reported the Crow Wing County Association of Township's will hold their spring meeting at the Nisswa Community Center April 16, 2001.
A letter was read indicating that Bruce Larson of Shores and More Realty has a moving van available to the area residents. There is no charge for the use of the van but the gas must be replenished.
There being no further Township business to conduct, the meeting adjourned at 8:45 P.M.
