Two suggestions were made during open forum:
- Exhaust fans should be installed in the hall bathrooms. Ways to vent the fans will be explored.
- Stop signs should be installed at the intersection of Old Hwy 120, Strawberry Lake Road, and the Kimble public access road. Wortham and Bach will check on this matter.
The road and bridge report was as follows:
- The new tractor and mower should be delivered about August 1, 2002. We are attempting to borrow a tractor and mower to complete the June mowing.
- There have been no safety incidents the previous month.
The fire department report was as follows:
- The department would like to purchase new letters for the front of the fire hall to be installed following completion of the siding installation.
- There was one safety incident the previous month. Forest Stieve was injured at an incident and is receiving medical treatment.

- The culvert on Wabigoniss Shores was successfully cleared of mud and silt.
- The department is advertising for a new firefighter.
Badger reported that the bathrooms in the park are being repaired following a fire that was started by vandals last fall. He also thought that new power should be ran to the pavilion as the current power does not allow cookers and coffee pots to be used at the same time.
The clerk reported that the recreation equipment in the park has been inspected by the state safety inspector and a letter would be forthcoming.
The clerk reported that he had been contacted by Doug Morris, CWC Solid Waste Coordinator, asking to construct a new building at the Ideal Transfer Station. The building material will be paid for by Crow Wing County and the construction will be by STS personnel. The cost of the material would be about $5,000.00. lf ldeal Township would advance the $5,000.00, the building would be constructed before fall and the Township would be reimbursed in January, 2002. Otherwise, construction could not take place until next summer.
Motion by Wortham to advance $5,000.00 for material to construct a new building at the transfer station to be repaid in January, 2002. Carried - unanimous
The clerk reported that Region 5 had grant money available to clean up commercial brownfields. Brownfields are old dumps that may have been covered by soil. Neither the Board nor the residents in attendance knew of any brownfields in Ideal Township.
The clerk submitted a letter of resignation effective September 30, 2001. The treasurer verbally submitted her resignation also effective September 30, 2001.
There being no further township business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 8:10 P.M.
