The meeting was called to order by Chairman Taylor at 7:02P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were present.
Motion by Wortham to accept the minutes of the November 13th, 2001 meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Badger to approve the treasurer's report for the month of November as presented. Carried- unanimous
Motion by Wortham to pay all December bills presented for payment by the clerk. Carried - unanimous
The Board reviewed the Application and Proposed Order to Vacate portions of Florence Avenue and Jones Avenue. Several area residents were present to voice opposition to the proposal. The clerk also presented eight letters that had been sent to the Town Hall opposing the vacating of the roads. Supervisor Badger explained what the proper procedure is to vacate a road in a township. The Board agreed that Ideal Township is not in favor of vacating public land for personal gain.
Motion by Taylor to send a copy of the vacating ordinance and the letters of opposition to the applicant's attorney, the judge and all ofthe individuals who sent letters of concern to the township. Carried - unanimous
An application to dredge the channel between Lower Hay Lake and Whitefish was reviewed by the Board.
Motion by Wortham to send a letter of approval to dredge the channel to the DNR as requested by Paul Schroeder. Carried - unanimous
The road and bridge report was as follows:
- Bach reported that sediment that had been building up in three culverts along Long Farm Road, causing some flooding in neighboring yards, had been removed.
- The F350 was hit with a piece of concrete and the grill was damaged. An estimated of $958.00 was presented.
- The maintenance crew has begun clearing away brush from the roads that are to be paved next year.
- Bach suggested we return the unused primer that was left by the first painter hired to paint the town hall.
- Bach reported several different options the township could use as a salt building.
- There have been no safety incidents.
Motion by Wortham to talk to the insurance agent and have the F350 fixed. Carried - unammous
The fire department report was as follows:
1. Chief Schultz reported the results of the fire department election:

Secretary: Robert Birkeland
2. There were 4 fire runs the previous month.
3. Three fire fighters, Tabbert, Sherman and Hedke, completed their Fire Fighter 1 training.
4. Schultz advised the clerk that the Ideal Community Service Organization
was going to be donating money to the fire department for a new set of tum out gear.
5. There have been no safety incidents.
The fire truck bid opening, scheduled for December 27,2001 at 10:00 a.m., was discussed. The suggestion was made to have the truck committee and the board speak with each representative individually to answer any questions they might have regarding the bid.
There was nothing to report concerning the park and recreation area.
Wortham reported there is no new issues regarding the Transfer Station.
The clerk asked the Board if the reserve CD could be put into a 6 month CD instead of a 3-month CD to receive a better interest rate. The Board approved putting the reserve amount into a 6-month CD.
There being no further Township business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 8:09P.M .
