The meeting was called to order by Chairman Taylor at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were present.
Motion by Wortham to accept the minutes of the June lOth, 2002 Board meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Steffen to approve the treasurer's report for the month of June as presented. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Wortham to pay all July bills presented for payment by the clerk. Carried - unanimous
An Ideal resident expressed safety concerns regarding boat launching at the Beach area along Ruttger Road.
Motion by Wortham to install signs along the beach directing boaters to the public access further down the road. Carried - unanimous.
The road and bridge report was as follows :
- Maintenance worker Tim Tabbert reported that Anderson Bros. has the Township on the list but no set date has been established for road construction.
- Supervisor Steffen advised the Board that he will be meeting with the County regarding the placement of the E911 signs and request a refund on the labor costs to replace the signs in the proper spots.
- Tabbert reported that the mowing in the township was about half completed.
- There have been no safety incidents.
The fire department report was as follows:
- There were 2 fire runs the previous month.
- There were no safety incidents.
The Park and Recreation report was as follows:
The Board reviewed bids from McAllister Electric to improve the electricity in the Pavilion, both temporarily and permanently.
Motion by Steffen to accept both the temporary and permanent bids from McAllister to make the improvements to the pavilion at a cost of about $2500. Carried - unanimous.
The Land Acquisition Committee gave a report regarding the progress on purchasing additional acreage for the Township. Steffen reported that further negotiations are necessary before a decision can be made.
The Board requested the Clerk contact Dave Badger regarding installing the timed locks on the Park restrooms.
The Transfer Station Report was as follows:
Steffen reported that vandals had once again been at the Transfer Station, causing damage to the gate, recycle containers and shooting glass bottles. Steffen advised that he would be contacting the Sheriff's Department to request they patrol the transfer station road when patrolling Highway 16 during non operational hours.
The clerk reported that 8 street signs had been stolen along Old Whiskey Road. A report was filed with the Sheriff's Department and vandal proof hardware has been purchased to deter further incidents with these same signs.
The clerk advised the Board that she would be attending a Township Short Course in St. Cloud regarding the CTAS computer system on July 18th.
Chairman Taylor requested the clerk set up a meeting with Charter Communications regarding expanding cable service in Ideal Township.
Gerry Brine advised the Board that a large sign had been placed along Winnamakee Shores Road within the Township Right of Way. A discussion regarding sign placement in the Township followed.
There being no further Township business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 8:32 P.M.
