The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Brandt at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Supervisor Wortham was not in attendance.
Motion by Plein, seconded by Brandt to accept the minutes of the April 10th, 2006 Board Meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Plein, seconded by Brandt to accept the Treasurers report for April, 2006. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Plein, seconded by Brandt to pay all May bills presented for payment by the Clerk , check number 13437 through check number 13471, totaling $14,488.84. Carried - unanimous
Ideal resident Dale Orred requested information regarding the Crow Wing County Sanitary Sewer District and the Pine River Watershed District. Supervisor Brandt reported on the history and status of both organization relative to Ideal Township.
The Road and Bridge report was as follows:
- Supervisor Brandt reported on the township road review which evaluates the road surface, ditches, signage and shoulder conditions.
- Bids were out for .7 miles of road construction on West Shore Drive.
- There were no safety incidents.
Supervisor Brandt reported on a complaint regarding possible damage by a contractors equipment on a township road. Brandt had a meeting scheduled between the contractor and Anderson Brothers to inspect the road surface and advise the board of any action that needed to be taken.
Brandt reported on the condition of the culverts on Long Farm Road and Wabigoniss Shores. Brandt advised the Board the following roads were to be next on the improvement schedule: Arrowhead Drive, Rustic Point, West Clear Lake and the end of Forest Knolls Road.
The Fire Department report was as follows:
- Chief Schultz reported one firefighter and one dispatcher retired from the Department.
- There were 3 fire runs the previous month.
- Cement apron will be poured at Station 2 in the next few weeks.
- There were no safety incidents.
The Park and Recreation report was as follows:
- Supervisor Plein reported the swing set was up and a new bench was being ordered for the park.
- Plein presented a property use permission contract agreement with the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway for review.
- Plein agreed to get estimates to replace the weathered siding on the town hall.
Supervisor Brandt advised the Board that the Transfer Station may have to revise the current policy on taking mattresses to comply with the counties requirements.
Kara Kehring was present and requested an update on the Cartway Petition. Supervisor Brandt reviewed the status of the Cartway.
Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein, to resume progress on the Cartway immediately. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to approval all established liquor licenses in the township if the business is up to date with their lodging taxes. Carried - unanimous
The clerk advised the board that Todd Dahl, candidate for Crow Wing County Sheriff, would be attending the June meeting to answer any questions they may have.
There being no further Township business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 7:58 P.M.
