The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wortham at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were in attendance.
Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to accept the minutes of the March 9th, 2009 Board Meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to accept the Treasurers report for March, 2009, check #15526 through #15591, totaling $55,099.35. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Plein, seconded by Brandt to pay all bills presented for payment by the Clerk, check #15597 through check #15642, totaling $27,473.36. Carried - unanimous
Kathy Moore gave an update of current and proposed projects for the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association.
The Board discussed using the Northland Press for posting legal notices. The clerk agreed to get a price from Northland and see how much it would be to have the notices published in the Echo Shopper as well.
The Road and Bridge report was as follows:
- Brandt reported the tractor was ready to begin street sweeping.
- Brandt stated 5 ton road restrictions were in place on township roads until May 15.
- Two new phone boosters were to be purchased and installed by the maintenance department on the town hall and the maintenance building.
- Brandt and Rahm were planning to conduct the road review the following week.
- There were no safety incidents.
The Fire Department report was as follows:
- There were 3 emergency runs the previous month.
- Chief Clasen reported 3 firefighters recently completed fire fighter I certification and one needed to retake the
- HAZMAT portion of the test.
- The transmission has been installed in WS17.
- A meeting has been set up with Landís End Development to talk about the dry hydrant.
- The resignation from Scott Peterson has been rescinded.
- The DNR Mutual Aid Agreement for 2009-2014 has been signed and all apparatus inventoried.
- A grant from the DNR was applied for Wildland gear in the amount of $3000.
- 3 fire fighters recently attended a pumping class and 1 attended a class on the Relief Association.
- 4 fire fighters attended a foam demonstration in Nisswa.
- 5 fire fighters attended a Minnesota Pipeline Safety seminar to help fire departments identify pipelines that run through their coverage areas.
- Stoltman and Wallace recently volunteered in Moorhead with sand bagging during the recent flooding.
- The department is looking into become 1st responders for the area.
- A work night has been set up to work on the Pig Bay landing for the rescue boat and Gerry Brine is working on the lease agreement.
- All department ladders were tested last week.
- The department received a $4000 reimbursement for training already completed.
- There were no safety incidents.
Brandt reported on the recent Ebnet detachment meetings. Road condition and maintenance was discussed with several options available including having a contract for grading and having the road paved or improved with crushed asphalt.
There was nothing new to report for Park and Recreation.
The Transfer Station report was as follow:
- The new disposal guide is available at the transfer station.
- Plein received a complaint regarding loitering at the transfer station from a customer and explained the policy regarding loitering recently implemented.
Supervisor Brandt reported on an upcoming meeting regarding the Sanitary Sewer pilot program.
Motion by Brandt, seconded by Plein to renew all current liquor licenses in the township provided the establishment was current on all taxes. Carried - unanimous
