The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wortham at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Supervisor Brandt was not in attendance.
Motion by Plein, seconded by Wortham to accept the minutes of the August 10th, 2009 Board Meeting as read. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Plein, seconded by Wortham to accept the Treasurers report for August, 2009, check #15845 through #15899, totaling $281,835.39. Carried - unanimous
Motion by Plein, seconded by Wortham to pay all bills presented for payment by the Clerk, check #15900 through check #15935, totaling $224,741.39. Carried - unanimous
The board discussed the recent accident suffered by Supervisor Brandt which has left him unable to attend meetings, but the ability to conduct township business as usual via computer and telephone.
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Plein, to grant Supervisor Brandt a temporary leave of absence from the township meetings and to conduct business through e-mail and telephone as needed. Carried - unanimous.
The clerk agreed to contact the Association of Townships regarding the legality of the situation.
The Road and Bridge report was as follows:
- Rahm reported the road construction and crack sealing had been completed by Anderson Brothers.
- The maintenance department has been mowing ditches and cleaning up the transfer station.
- There were no safety incidents.
The Fire Department report was as follows:
There was 1 emergency run the previous month.
- Chief Clasen reported the new fire truck was delivered on August 24th and was now in service.
- The Beef Feed was a great success with over 2000 guest served.
- The department was still waiting to hear if they qualified for the federal grant to upgrade the fire hall.
- The department was looking into a possible house burn in September.
- There were no safety incidents.
There was nothing new to report on Park and Recreation.
The Transfer Station report was as follow:
- Supervisor Plein was spending time at the transfer station to try and deter pickers from overstaying their visit as outlined in the transfer disposal guide.
There being no further business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 7:31 pm.
