The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Brandt at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All Supervisors were in attendance.
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Plein to accept the minutes of the May 10th, 2010 Board Meeting as read. Carried - unanimous.
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Plein to accept the Treasurers report for May 10th, 2010, check #16402 through #16457, totaling $41,825.19. Carried - unanimous.
Motion by Plein, seconded by Wortham to pay all bills presented for payment by the Clerk, check #16458 through check #16496, totaling $26,380.77. Carried - unanimous.
Cindy Hidde presented the board with a variance request for Duane and Olive Jamison to remove the existing structure and have it replaced on Gasink Road. The board supported both variance requests for the lake setback and Road Right of Way setback as long as a storm water plan was in place.
Cindy Hidde also had a variance request for the O’hallerans. Hidde requested the board list any concerns they had with the request so she could advise the applicant. The board was concerned with the ingress and egress easement, the septic location and the storm water plan. Hidde agreed to address the boards concern at an upcoming meeting.
Bruce Zeman and Darrell Swanson requested the township maintain Storage Park Road. Mr. Zeman presented the board with documentation and meeting minutes he felt stated the township would assume the responsibility of the road. The board stated the township had specifications in the mid 1990’s that stated all township roads needed to be paved to be considered for maintenance by the township. The board agreed to contact the township legal council and have a decision by the July monthly meeting.
The Road and Bridge report was as follows:
- Supervisor Brandt reported ditch mowing has begun in the township.
- Brandt presented the road constructions bids and the bid was awarded to Anderson Brothers at a cost of $223,714 to resurface the end of Butternut Point Road, Peoria, Silver Peak, Harbor Lane, Milinda Shores and Wildemere Drive.
- Brandt reported a resident had concerns regarding the culvert on West Clear Lake Road and Brandt agreed to follow up on this issue.
- The intersections of Harbor Lane, Silver Peak and Milinda Shores Road were altered for safety reasons.
- The maintenance building vent problem was not resolved by the builder and was to be addressed by another plumber.
- There were no safety incidents.
The Fire Department report was as follows:
- There were 3 emergency runs the previous month.
- Supervisor Brandt reported last months drill was on water rescue.
- The school bus used for the extrication training last month has been removed from the Transfer Station.
- The fire department is now handling 1st responder calls..
- The department was gathering information regarding changing the ISO rating at the North side station coverage area.
- Dale Orred presented a $250 donation for the North side fire station.
- There were no safety incidents.
The Park and Recreation report was as follows:
- Supervisor Plein reported the ball field has been raked, mowed and gravel added where needed.
The Transfer Station report was as follows:
- The electronics have been picked up by the county but many more have been coming in.
- Supervisor Plein continues to discourage pickers at the station.
Brandt reported the Resolution regarding the census methodology in Ideal Township approved at last months board meeting has been forwarded to our Senators.
Brandt reported work was being done on the East side of Big Island to improve the erosion control.
Brandt advised the board that the City of Breezy Point has apposed the recent detachment petition and the next action will consist of mediation or a public hearing.
The board stated the funding request from the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway was still under review.
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Plein, to approve the current liquor licenses in the township for renewal. Carried - unanimous.
The board discussed the possibility of receiving a grant to install emergency sirens in the Ideal Township and Timothy Township area.
Supervisor Wortham questioned the townships ability to donate to the Sentence to Serve program. Brandt agreed to contact the township association on this matter.
There being no further business to transact, the meeting adjourned at 8:21pm.
