The Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Brandt at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were in attendance.
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Plein to accept the minutes of the June 13th, 2011 Board Meeting as presented. Carried – unanimous
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Plein to accept the Treasurers report for June, 2011, check #17164 through check #17221, totaling $55,661.48 Carried – unanimous
Motion by Plein, seconded by Wortham to pay all bills presented for payment by the Clerk, check #17222 through check #17254, totaling $64,717.52 Carried – unanimous.
Supervisor Brandt noted the Town Hall has now been professionally cleaned after the vandalism last month. After speaking with the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Department, Brandt was advised a report would be submitted to the county attorney for review and he would determine what charges would be filed and notify the township. In addition, after the case was settled, the township could pass a resolution to ban the individuals involved from township property for up to a year.
The Road and Bridge report was as follows:
- Supervisor Brandt reported the maintenance department has completed the first single pass of mowing and some tree trimming.
- Brandt reported Anderson Brothers has completed the majority of the 2011 road construction. A few small issues needed to be addressed on Heath Drive and Clamshell. Anderson has not yet completed the crack sealing.
- Brandt received 1 noxious weed complaint and is being addressed by the property owner.
- The septic system at the park will be inspected this week so a building permit could obtained for the fire truck display.
- Supervisor Wortham reported two tree hazard issues on Forest Knolls.
- There were no safety incidents.
Ideal Fire Department Relief Association representative, Tom Johnson, advised the board that at the August meeting, the board would have to set the per year compensation for the members. Johnson advised he did not believe the department would be looking for an increase.
The Fire Department report was as follows:
- There were 19 emergency runs the previous month.
- Last months drill was on water pumping.
- The department was involved in the Pequot Lakes Firefighter challenge and the 4th of July parade.
- The new WS17 is now in service.
- Chief Clasen explained due to the government shutdown, no burning permits would be issued.
- The Beef Feed mailing was completed last week and special fire prevention brochures were included.
- On June 29, the fire department met with the township supervisors to discuss the letter the department received regarding the annual meeting. The department provided a list of needs and their priority and timeline.
- The department received thank you letters and donation from two residents for the recent actions of the Ideal 1st responders.
- There were no safety incidents.
The Transfer Station report was as follows:
- Supervisor Plein reported the electronics and hazardous waste have been removed.
- Plein advised the metal pile is very large.
- Plein presented and updated user report.
There was nothing new to report for Park and Recreation.
Supervisor Brandt recently attended a seminar offered by the township association. Brandt also reported on several Planning and Zoning issues in which no decisions have been made by the county and would be coming before the township in the near future.
Supervisor Brandt recently met with Mission Township to receive information regarding the booklet they produce for their annual meeting. The cost was approximately $15 each. The board felt the current process would stay in place.
Brandt received a complaint regarding the condition of Wild Acres Road. The road would be graded as soon as the road wasn’t so dry.
Motion by Wortham, seconded by Plein, to increase the mileage rate from .51 to .55 to coincide with the federal rate. Carried – unanimous.
