After yesterday's member and relief meetings the firefighters opened and set up a new portable dump tank. The dump tank is a folding-frame tank giving firefighters a compact structure that is easy to transport from one location to the next. This quick set up tank can hold up to 2,500 gallons of water enabling the supply pumper to continue supporting firefighting operations while water shuttle apparatus travel between the fill site and the dump site. This allows them to use a pump directly into the lines once on site after set up. The pumpers and tenders can then quickly fill the dump tanks to supply hoses and other equipment. These collapsible tanks double the firefighting capability at the fire scene and are a critical water supply tool for firefighting operations in rural locations where hydrants and other water sources are scarce and difficult to supply. Our Ideal Township and surrounding communities are appreciative of our diligent and dedicated Volunteer Ideal Fire Deptartment and are proud to support them in their efforts.
