IDEAL Transfer Station

Located off of County Road 16 at the end of West Island Lake Drive.

A yearly $6 permit is required for residents and non-residents. Users pay the annual transfer station permit fee and an additional charge for each item or load brought to the dump. See the station price list here.

Days & Times

Transfer station hours are always from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Depending on the time of year, the station is open on the following days:

• November 1 - April 1, Saturdays only
• April 1 - Memorial Day, Wednesdays and Saturdays
• Memorial Day - Labor Day, Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays
• Labor Day - November 1, Wednesdays and Saturdays

Dumping is allowed only on posted days during the hours the attendant is on site.
A fine can be assessed for illegal dumping.

Recycling of plastic, newspaper, glass, tin and aluminum is free.
Standard household hazardous waste - paint, solvents, stains, etc - can be disposed for free.

Refuse is not buried on site but is transferred via dumpsters to the Crow Wing County Landfill.
There is no charge to deposit leaves for composting. Free compost is available for pickup during normal transfer station hours.

Items accepted:

• Tires (off the rim) with an additional charge per tire
• Scrap metal and appliances.
• Refuse and household waste.
• Leaves
• Scrap wood
• Paint
• Electronic equipment (additional $5 per item)
